Sports
When shooting sports, the photographer is in a competition
that is just as serious as the competitors on the field. This
competition can be with other photographers, but it is normally
more personal than that. The desire to capture THE image that
defines the game, meet or match is what drives a good sports shooter,
regardless of how many other photographers are on the field. The
penultimate image is not necessarily the play that wins the game,
or of the star player, or the winning team, but rather the telling
image is one that will allow a viewer to understand what happened,
to make an emotional connection, to feel the action, emotion and
excitement that existed in the arena. This may be from the sideline,
after the game, of the winners, or of the loser.
