La Baronessa

La Baronessa is the largest all-aluminum privately-owned motor yacht in the world, costing approximately 35 million dollars. It has a cruising range of 10,000 miles and a top speed of 16 knots. Constructed by Palmer Johnson Yachts in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, the ship has has state-of-the-art electronics, a crew of 16, room for 16 guests, a 12-line, 30-station telephone system, an air-conditioned garage holding two tenders and a 17-foot retractable transom deck for SCUBA diving from the back of the ship. This photo is a detail from the jackets worn by Palmer Johnson staff during a demonstration excursion.

The photos below are from a press tour during the time that sea trials were being conducted and as the ship was being moved from the construction building to the water of Sturgeon Bay. Click on the photo to see a larger version.
